What is nutritional counseling?

While some of our patients ask for nutritional counseling to learn more about how food affects their health and their weight, others come because either we suggested it due to a health concern or another physician has referred her to us.

Regardless of how and why you come to us for nutritional counseling, our registered dietician can help you achieve better health through nutrition. In addition to giving you guidance on how to improve your diet, she will also help you set and achieve your health goals, starting with changes that will have the most impact, and developing personalized tactics that work for your lifestyle.

Our goal is to develop individualized health and nutritional plan that puts you in control of your weight and your health.

What to expect

During your first appointment, we’ll spend time getting to know you. We’ll ask about your goals and review your medical history, including any medications and supplements you’re currently taking.

We’ll also talk about your lifestyle to get a sense of your stress levels, sleep patterns, energy levels, and exercise habits. We’ll discuss your dietary preference and cooking habits and ask you to keep a food diary of a few days’ worths of food and snacks in order to identify any trouble spots.

Our main goal in nutritional counseling is to help our patients master one of the most important prerequisites for good health: a balanced diet. Whether you hope to lose weight or manage an illness, your nutrition can mean the difference between failure and success.
